Free From Buying Guide
No longer just for those with a particular medical or nutritional need, the free-from market has undergone somewhat of a revolution in recent years, with the latest statistics from Kantar* confirming that 65% of British households bought free-from foods in the last year.
This boom in sales has been driven to a large extent, by new ‘lifestyle’ consumers entering the market, attracted by the health halo associated with free-from products. Increased product innovation, quality and availability has also prompted more regular sales from existing free-from consumers.
So, developing your free-from range is guaranteed to drive sales, but with so much variety out there, it can be difficult to know what areas to focus on and which products to stock. Our Industry expert, Adrian Ling from Plamil Foods, answers this question with his unique insight into the free-from world. We’ve also included an overview of market data and trends from top-selling gluten-free specialist Schar and plant-based eating brand, Provamel.
